On Tuesday, February 21, 2017 around 7:15pm officers with the Welsh Police Department were dispatched to the area of the area of Prudhomme and Martin Luther King Streets. The officers were dispatched to a possible domestic abuse battery in progress. The officers were given a description of the suspect and victim. Upon the officers arrival in the area an individual matching the description given was seen on Prudhomme St. When the officer attempted to make contact with the individual, he ran from the officer. The individual was caught and identified as Jeremy Prudhomme of Welsh. The investigation on scene led to Purdhomme being arrested for Domestic Abuse Battery, Flight From an Officer, and Public Intimidation. Prudhomme was transported to the Welsh Police Department for processing then brought to the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office for booking in on charges. While at the Sheriff's Office, Prudhomme requested medical attention. Officers brought Prudhomme to the Jennings American Legion Hospital emergency room for a medical evaluation. Doctors with the hospital evaluated Prudhomme and determined he needed no medical treatment. When Purdhomme was placed in the Welsh Police Department patrol unit, Prudhomme kicked the back glass of the patrol car damaging the window frame. Prudhomme was charged with criminal damage to property. Prudhomme was transported to back to the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail and booked in on the following charges: Domestic Abuse Battery, Flight from an Officer, Public Intimidation, and Criminal Damage to Property.
